Mary is a Cincinnati "transplant," having moved to the Queen City after growing up in the Chicago 'burbs and attending college in Minneapolis, Minn. She received a B.A. in Communications and Journalism from the University of St. Thomas and then worked in marketing for a couple years. AmeriCorps brought Mary to Cincinnati, where she coordinated the StrivePartnership's local tutor initiative Be the Change. Now, she is back in the communication world, working as Senior PR Specialist for KnowledgeWorks, an organization focused on ensuring every student receives a meaningful education that sets him/her up for success in life. Mary loves a good, uplifting story (all of which make her cry), the Chicago Bears (who also usually make her cry) and an ice, cold Rhinegeist Truth.
