Thank you to everyone
YEP-Colorado held its first conference on May 31, 2014, to further its mission of breaking barriers between policy, practice, and research among young education professionals.
Colorado is modeling this meeting on a successful event held by YEP-DC with 150 education professionals participating in interactive panels and workshops about the local and national educational landscape. YEP-Colorado’s meeting will be a similar, annual conversation about our own state, its schools and school districts, education politics and policy, and the implementation of policy in the classroom.
Highlights of Intersections in Education:
Lunchtime Keynote, sponsored by the Center for Teaching Quality
Ann Byrd, author of the recently published book Teacherpreneurs and COO of the Center for Teaching Quality, will join us to speak about highly accomplished classroom teachers who blur the lines of distinction between those who teach in schools and those who lead them. Learn more about Teacherpreneurs.
Two interactive breakout sessions led by education professionals, featuring work in policy, practice, and/or research around two themes:
1. Seeds of Success: Policies and practices that have produced positive results, exploring benefits and challenges.
2. Bridging the Gap: Connecting policy, practice and research to strengthen K-12 education.
Design Thinking Happy Hour, sponsored by the Colorado Education Initiative
The Colorado Education Initiative and the Colorado Department of Education Next Generation Learning initiative will host a happy hour to cap off the YEP meeting to learn more about design thinking, socialize, and share education innovations you are working on right now.
