About YEP
Young Education Professionals (YEP) is a non-partisan education professionals network that began in Washington, DC, and is expanding to a growing number of cities across the country. YEP draws professionals from the public, non-profit, and private sectors and is open to anyone interested in education. YEP members share the common goal of improving education through policy, research, and practice. YEP works to un-silo and bring together professionals interested in education through social and professional events and opportunities so they can learn from one another and work together to achieve a greater degree of progress for their community’s students and families. Role descriptions
All board positions are a 1 year commitment. Time commitment for VPs is: 20-30 hours per month to fulfill the responsibilities of their particular committee role, as well as planning, governance, and attending monthly meetings and YEP events. In addition to board VP, we are looking for chairs and committee members, so if you are not able to commit to a board position but are still interested in being involved, we'd still love to hear from you. Time commitment for chairs is 10 hours per month. We look forward to receiving your application.

VP, Board Operations and Talent
Specific responsibilities for this position include:
- Create system to track and analyze progress toward organizational and department goals
- Maintain awareness of ongoing work and activities to ensure timely completion of tasks and send action items/prompts when needed
- Facilitate or designate a facilitator for Executive Board meetings
- Schedule and set agenda for board meetings and ensure that agendas, meeting minutes, and other documentation are distributed to the Executive Board in a timely manner
- Track and analyze data
- Recruit and lead selection process for new board members
- Plan semi-annual board retreat
VP, Communications and Partnerships
Specific responsibilities for this position include:
- Develop strategies to build and/or expand YEP-Bay Area "brand" through web-based and print-based materials (e.g., website, social media, one-pagers, quarter cards, emails to other listservs, potential advertising)
- Draft event invitations and other marketing content, in collaboration with Program VP
- Oversee website content and updates and social media accounts (e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Idealist.org)
- Research and cultivate prospective collaborators and partners
- Maintain directory of contacts in partner organizations
- Maintain records of activities and share updates with relevant board regularly
- Liaising with the other YEP chapters
- Long-term: Cultivate and expand relationships with press, manage press clips and tracking YEP-Bay Area’s visibility and impact, potentially launch and manage additional social media platforms such as a newsletter or blog
VP, Programming: Professional Development
Specific responsibilities for this position include:
- Contribute professional development events to the calendar of events for each year and participate in establishment of quarterly themes
- Collaborate with Programming VPs in planning, designing and/or overseeing professional development events aligned with the mission and vision of YEP-Bay Area (in response to members' interests) including developing program/content for events, arranging space and logistics, budget, guest speakers, etc.
- Ensure knowledge capture for future use (e.g. event checklists, event descriptions, etc.)
- Manage volunteers at events
- Work with VP, Communications and Partnerships on securing partners for events and fundraising
