YEP National Statement on Racial Injustice
WASHINGTON, DC – "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly." - Martin Luther King, Jr.
As the leaders of Young Education Professionals National (YEP National), we are standing together condemning acts of racial injustice against Black people and communities of color. As an organization that exists to bring diverse education communities together, we recognize our responsibility to fight discrimination and work together to advance equity in education.
Our team at Young Education Professionals National commits to taking action. We have started by meeting with all our Chapter Leaders to discuss local solutions, from partnering with other education organizations to equipping educators with more culturally responsive resources. At the National and local levels, we will continue to create inclusive spaces to hear and amplify the voices of our members.
In our mission to equip tomorrow’s leaders to answer the toughest challenges in education today and into the future, we know we have a lot of work ahead of us. We look forward to working together toward sustainable and systemic change.
