A Look Back at 2014: Young Education Professionals Expands to Atlanta, Indianapolis, and Seattle
Three New Chapters Bring Total Number of Chapters to 11
Washington, DC – Young Education Professionals (YEP),
a nonpartisan organization that connects tomorrow’s education leaders,
announced today that it has added chapters in Atlanta, Indianapolis, and Seattle. The addition of these three chapters continues the organization’s rapid growth from its founding in 2007 as a local organization in Washington, DC, into a national network of 11,000 members across 11 chapters.
YEP-Atlanta, YEP-Indianapolis and YEP-Seattle join eight already thriving chapters: YEP-Bay Area, YEP-Birmingham, YEP-Boston, YEP-Colorado, YEP-DC, YEP-NYC, YEP-Triangle NC, and YEP-Twin Cities.
“We are honored to expand our networking and professional development opportunities to young education professionals in Atlanta, Indianapolis and Seattle through our new chapters,” said Elise West, YEP National executive director. “From our founding in 2007 through our growth from just three chapters and 4,000 members two years ago, YEP has been a significant resource for our members and the education communities where our chapters are located. We are committed to continually expanding our offerings and network to places where there are passionate future education leaders.”
In 2014, YEP also released the inaugural survey of its members, YEP Voices: A Report on and by the Next Generation of Education Leaders, capturing the voice and opinions of more than 400 young education professionals from across policy, practice, and research. The 2015 YEP Voices survey is currently underway and results will be released in the spring.
